Bollywood dancing is dancing to the tracks, old and new, from the Bollywood movies. This can be in any style that you interpret the music to follow. A real ‘masala’ mix of music can be found in Bollywood film songs from salsa sounds, belly dancing beats, hip-hop/ street style tempos, waltz melodies , to country rhythms. The trick is to let the music and words lead you.

You can learn and feel the excitement of true Bollywood essence with us!!

You don’t need to have any experience in other dance forms; all you need is some energy, enthusiasm and a big smile, to see what authentic Bollywood style dancing is.

Come and have some serious fun and exercise at the same time, no matter what age, background or sex you are!! Let some Bollywood flavour into your life.....................

ABOUT BOLLYWOOD
Bollywood is the Indian equivalent to Hollywood. The word originates from India's film capital Bombay, now Mumbai. The industry produces almost 1000 films a year - that's twice as many films as is produced in Hollywood and is about three a day!

Bollywood films are typically flamboyant musicals – but it’s not the actors who usually sing. There are a number of famous playback singers who sing the songs, and the actors 'lipsync' and add in the bags of expression along with extravagant dance moves.

Very few films are made without at least one song-and-dance number, involving vibrant colours and exotic locations. Indian audiences expect full value for money - they want songs and dances, love interest, comedy and dare-devil thrills, all mixed up in a three hour long extravaganza with an interval! This is a way to escape and see all the wonders of the world in all its glory.

Bollywood films like this have also been nicknamed the real 'masala' movie, as they're like a traditional Indian spice box – a little bit of everything!

Balboa is a dance that originated in Southern California in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Mostly dancing chest to chest, it has a smooth style and now contains many “swing” style moves. The Beginner Balboa Workshop is perfect for the absolute beginner or those wanting to brush-up on their basics. We will teach you the basic steps of the Balboa for a great foundation and some moves to enable you to dance the night away in style.

Session 1: Getting The Basics Right
2:00pm - 3:30pm

This class is designed for absolute beginners who have never done any Balboa before. However, dancers who have done a basic Balboa class before will also benefit strongly from this class. Taking the time to master the Balboa Basic and the Break Turn will create a rock solid foundation for moving on to more exciting moves.

Session 2: Bal-Swing – Get Moving on the Floor
3:30pm - 5pm
Once you have the basics under your belt, you’ll be ready to move on to some Bal-Swing moves to get you moving on the dance floor. Throw-Outs and Lollies are fundamental moves that can be constantly varied to extend and personalise your Balboa.
